Bilingual Administrative Officer

Reporting to the Executive Director of the New Brunswick Teachers’ Federation (NBTF), the incumbent will be responsible for providing financial services and general accounting for the NBTF and the Group Insurance Plan.


Main Responsibilities

  • Assist the Executive Director in the preparation and administration of budgets
  • Ensure compliance with federal and state payroll laws
  • General administration and processing of bi-weekly payroll, including absence management
  • Calculate taxable benefits, prepare and distribute T4 statements in accordance with the Act
  • Receive funds and deposit them in a chartered bank or credit union
  • Make payments by check or direct deposit
  • Post general entries, verify accounts, prepare trial balance of books and maintain general ledger
  • Coordinate group insurance payments and pension contributions, and act as liaison
  • Reconcile bank accounts and budget entries
  • Prepare year-end documents for the auditor
  • Prepare monthly reports and annual budgets

Requirements and Competencies*

  • Post-secondary education with a specialization in accounting, finance or business administration
  • Possess at least 5 years of experience in a similar position
  • Experience with budgeting and financial reporting
  • Use of financial systems (Quickbooks)
  • Experience interpreting and applying financial policies, guidelines and procedures
  • Experience in extracting, compiling and analyzing financial information and preparing reports, including making recommendations
  • Experience with year-end activities and reporting
  • Experience in providing services and advice
  • Written and spoken competence in English and French is required

Start Date: June 1st, 2022 or other mutually acceptable date
Hours of Work: 32,5 hours per week
Salary: $55,016 – $71,448 (according to education and experience, with very competitive benefits)
Location: Fredericton, NB
