Hours of Instruction – Article 18

The Federation regularly receives questions related to hours of instructions.

  • Is there a difference between hours of instruction and the teachers working days;
  • How are the hours of instruction calculated;
  • At what time should teachers arrive in the morning or leave school in the afternoon;
  • Is the presence to the after-hours meetings mandatory for teachers?

To get answers to these questions, please click here.

2.
Class Size – Article 20

Class size maximums are in effect the first day of school. At no time after the beginning of the school year shall teachers or the Employer agree to go beyond the indicated class size numbers.

3.
Family Day – Article 32.07

The NBTF wishes to remind that teachers with a full-time B contract are entitled to one family day per school year.

Teachers are advised to apply for this day as soon as possible, as the employer has the right to refuse to grant this day on a specific date if it can justify that it would affect operational needs. Once the family day has been approved by the district, it cannot be cancelled.

We would also like to remind teachers not to make any reservations/plans until the approval is given by the school district to avoid any unpleasant surprises.

If you have any questions or concerns about the family day, please do not hesitate to contact the Federation at 1-888-679-7044.
